Welcome to our latest meet the team blog.
Today we introduce Stuart Newton who joined Bedford in 2018. Stuart is a Customer Success Manager and in his spare time Stuart is a huge environmentalist involved in several initiatives such as planting 500 trees in 3 days in Puquio, Peru, running 8.5 marathons in 9 days raising £6,000 for The Woodland Trust and most recently planting 14,000 spring bulbs over a two-month period to increase the biodiversity of a local cycle path.
What made you consider joining Bedford?
I had numerous years of consultancy experience and this opportunity helped me to take my technical modelling skills to another level. My CIMA qualifications; and my core skill of refining processes in all the business I have worked in.
What are you most proud of?
I introduced my friend into the company and seeing him develop and get promoted has made me proud.
What’s your favourite part of working at Bedford?
The people. From the consultants, the support staff and senior leadership, everyone is open-minded to new ideas. But also, our clients, you really get to know your clients as people and it’s incredible to speak to such diverse individuals across the world from Sweden, Switzerland, South Africa and India.
Describe Bedford in three words
If I had to describe Bedford in 3 words, I would have to say innovative, social and modern.
What’s the company like? How would you describe the team culture?
Bedford is full of like-minded people who care about delivering world class projects to their clients. It’s relaxed and you are given the space to be yourself and control your own schedule.
How would you describe a typical day?
The right level of busy, good work life balance, it can be intense being on calls or building models all days, but you finish at the appropriate time.
What did you wish you knew before joining?
Nothing, except for Anaplan, it was a steep learning curve at the start.
What’s the most important skill that someone will need to succeed as a consultant?
People skills, the consultancy side of the role and the ability to work at high intensity.
What is the biggest challenge that someone in this position would face?
Juggling commitments when working on multiple projects but there is a supportive team network to help before this becomes an issue.
What have you learned in the last six months?
Time management is so important. Making sure you balance your commitments.
Why do you stay at Bedford?
Why leave? It’s the best place I have ever worked at, I’m listened to and suggestions are taken onboard. Plus, your colleagues become your friends.
