The evolving role of finance

SoftwareONE discuss and what they did to navigate a number of external factors whilst cutting their budgeting process.

Andre Fraser, Head of Group Controlling and John Byrne, Business Analyst, discuss the important of the finance function remaining agile and having the ability to scenario plan during a crises and how their use of Anaplan within the finance team has saved weeks.

SoftwareONE, headquartered in Switzerland, is a leading global provider of end-to-end software and cloud technology solutions. They help organisations modernise and migrate critical workloads to public clouds, while managing and optimising associated software and cloud assets and licencing. They operate across 90 countries, with 8700 employees.

“The impact is that we’ve been able to reduce the time required for our budgeting process. Previously whole budgeting process took very long, nearly four months, with budgeting then re doing adjustments and then going through different versions and within the 90 countries. It took over a quarter of the year doing planning, instead of selling. Now, the whole process takes only four weeks.”

“The duration of the project was from mid-June to mid-October – only 4 months to set up a budget process for an 10,000-employee company. The goal was to not only replace the existing budget tool, which was slow, but also to introduce some workflows into the budgeting process which would help to reduce the number of weeks used for budgeting.”

John Byrne, Business Analyst, SoftwareONE
