Welcome to our latest meet the team blog. Today we introduce Philipp Erkinger who joined Bedford in January 2020 as a Principal Solution Architect. Philipp has several years’ experience of Anaplan including as a customer during his role as Centre of Excellence Lead at TATA Steel. Most recently, Philipp was awarded the ‘Community Boss’ accolade for his contributions to the Anaplan Community.

What made you consider joining Bedford?

It just felt as a natural next step to help companies evolve their planning processes, after having implemented Anaplan as a customer and experiencing first-hand the power of the platform.

What are you most proud of?

In the last few months, I am proud to have been part of the team to deliver one of the first Anaplan Polaris implementations in Europe and gain exposure to the power of the calculation engine.

What’s your favourite part of working at Bedford?

Having access to an impressive pool of people, with different backgrounds, knowledge, and skills.

Describe Bedford in 3 words

Humble, customer focused, professional

What’s the company like? How would you describe the team culture?

Bedford is continuously evolving and always open to trying new ways of working. We have a great culture and a focus on hiring to maintain diversity within the team.

How would you describe a typical day?

No two days are the same at Bedford. It can range from time alone model building through to large team workshops, project status tracking with the customer and supporting colleagues.

What’s the most important skill that someone will need to succeed in your role?

The ability to listen to the customer, absorb the specific needs and requirements and adapt accordingly to deliver the best project possible.

What is the biggest challenge that someone in this position would face?

Balancing the needs of different customers can be a challenge but learning to be adaptable helps with this.

What have you learned in the last six months?

I learnt a lot whilst working on a Polaris implementation however I’m currently working on a new project with a Danish customer where I have learnt a fascinating amount about grass seeds!

Why do you stay at Bedford?

I am able to work on projects across Europe and grow my skillset whilst gaining knowledge of many different industries.
