Capacity plan ready on the 1st for British Engineering Services

Before using Anaplan, BES managed capacity planning for the workforce in more than a dozen different spreadsheets. Due to rapid growth and an ever-changing economic climate, this became increasingly resource hungry, open to issue and was taking the planning team 50% of the month to build the report, leaving them with minimal time to analyse data which quickly became outdated. “Making changes to the plan or doing “what-if” analysis was a huge amount of manual effort for us before using Anaplan and by the time we had completed the analysis, the data was no longer up to date”, explains Robert Whaley, Business Analytics Leader.

BES partnered with Anaplan and Bedford Consulting to deliver a capacity planning report that is now available for a first look on calendar day one instead of day ten. Data is collated from five different import sources and analysed by the planning team. “Changes to the plan can happen daily, now using Anaplan we know that we are analysing the most accurate data and we have ultimate visibility as well as being able to trace where the numbers originated, it’s given us huge confidence in the data.” Janet Llewelyn, Planning Leader.

In addition, the plan is used to make decisions across the business from operations and management through to BES’ investors, all stakeholders have visibility and greater collaboration which access to accurate data which can be reviewed and modelled in real-time.

Throughout the implementation process, BES worked with a team of expert model builders from Bedford Consulting.
